Cow Raven and Cow Chelsea are alternate versions of Raven Baxter and Chelsea Daniels that starred in "Don't Have a Cow". In the episode, Raven has a vision in which she and Chelsea accidentally turned themselves into cows with a magical spell.

Story[]

Raven and Chelsea were upset that they weren't invited to Alana's Halloween party hosted at the Chill Grill. While having dinner there, Chelsea ends up eating Raven's hamburger instead of her veggie burger due to Victor accidentally swapping their plates, which greatly upset her as a vegetarian.

Button

Chelsea dropping her pin in the cauldron during the wishing spell causes her and Raven to turn into the animal on it.

They later went to Raven's house, where Chelsea started wearing an anti-beef pin button with a cow's face on it out of guilt. To pass the time, the two looked through a chest filled with paranormal artifacts that belonged to Raven's grandmother, Viv, and came across a book titled, "A Book of Potions, Spells, and Incantations," which contained various magical spells. After Chelsea found a spell that can grant any wish, Raven got an idea to use it to get them to Alana's party.

The two followed the book's instructions and placed the necessary ingredients inside of a cauldron. They then wished to be invited to Alana's party before reciting the magic words, "Bubble and boil oh magic stew, make our special wish come true." Raven immediately received a call confirming their invitations from a hypnotized Alana.

Now knowing the spell worked, they then wished to be the most popular girls at the party and to have the best costumes. The two began jumping up and down in excitement as they cast the second spell, which caused Chelsea's cow pin to fall off her shirt and into the cauldron. They failed to notice this and went upstairs to Raven's room to prepare their costumes.

After showering, they both wore bathrobes and towels on their heads as they tried to figure out what to dress up as for the party. When Raven took her towel off her hair, Chelsea noticed that Raven's ears were shaped like a cow's and mistook them for a costume part. They started panicking after realizing Raven's actual ears have changed and are further frightened to find a long, white tail on Chelsea's rear. After they both developed cow ears and tails, Eddie arrived at the house to take them to the party.

Raven and Chelsea awkwardly hid their ears and tails from Eddie by putting their towels back on and standing next to each other as they forced him to leave (though nearly blow their cover when Raven accidentally swung her tail in Chelsea's face). On his way out, Eddie asked them if he could borrow the spell book to use for his wizard costume. Raven allowed him to take it to get him out of the house faster as she began to moo sporadically.

The two find Chelsea's pin in the cauldron and realized that it altered their wish to turn them into cows. Since Eddie took the spell book with him, they also had no way to reverse the magic. As Chelsea also began to moo, Raven determined that their only option to stop the spell was to go to the party and get the book back, figuring that they could get away with looking like cows in front of the other attendees since it was Halloween.

Upon arriving at the Chill Grill, Raven and Chelsea were horrified upon seeing their noses have formed into snouts and vowed to find Eddie before it's too late. Before they could look, Raven caught Chelsea eating someone's straw hat and pulled her aside to remind her they're still human and redirected her to the refreshment table. Raven broke down when her hands suddenly became hooves, leaving her unable to pick up the cups for a drink.

When she turns to tell Chelsea, she finds her drinking out of the punch bowl with her face as if it were a trough before licking it off with her now longer cow tongue. As Raven stared disapprovingly, Chelsea noticed her chewing in a circular motion and asked if she's got gum, only for Raven to dejectedly reveal she's chewing cud. The two were disgusted by the revelation before suddenly breaking out into a mooing session.

They finally find Eddie and the spell book amidst the chaos. As Chelsea struggled to find the reverse spell page with her hooves, Raven tried to explain to Eddie what was happening to them and he doesn't believe her. Pushing him aside, Raven finds Chelsea's new instincts got the better of her as she ate the page with the reversal spell. Before they could process losing their one chance at stopping the spell, Muffy halted the party to announce the costume contest results.

Muffy and most of the room were shocked to find out that Alana placed second, expecting her to win as she usually did. An angry Alana ran onto the stage to confirm this and became more outraged upon finding out that Raven and Chelsea won. As she tore up the paper with the results, the attendees began to applaud the winners.

With the spell complete, Raven and Chelsea are shown to have fully transformed into Holstein cows mentally and physically, now appearing on all fours and leashed. As the two new farm animals observed the room, they sarcastically remarked that they still got their wish to be popular and decided they "might as well milk it." They are last seen mooing as Alana and her friends appeared discontent over losing the contest.

It is then revealed that the whole night was a vision Raven had right before Chelsea ate the burger. She immediately stopped Chelsea to prevent the ordeal from happening. It is left unknown what would have happened to Raven and Chelsea if the vision came true and if they would have remained cows permanently.

Appearance[]

Bodies[]

Rc

How Raven and Chelsea looked during the transformation.

For the majority of the vision, Raven and Chelsea kept their human physiques, but their bodies slowly became more cowlike after the spell was cast. They originally hid their cow parts from Eddie at the house, but they did not hide their features at the party since they figured everyone would believe their changing bodies were Halloween costumes. This was later proven correct as even upon fully transforming none of the other attendees seemed to realize they were actual cows.

They had difficulty controlling their changing body parts, such as Raven struggling to stop her ears and tail from moving and both failing to grip anything after their hands became hooves.

Before the costume contest announcement, during which the rest of the transformation occurs, they had cow ears, tails, snouts, hooves, and tongues. Their tails, snouts, and arms became white, foreshadowing what breed of cattle they were turning into. They were also capable of chewing cud and their voices became significantly lower pitched whenever they mooed, implying their stomachs and vocal cords were changing as well.

At the end of the vision, Raven and Chelsea end up becoming Holstein cows, the most popular breed of dairy cattle which have white fur with black spots. With their clothes disappearing upon their complete transformation, the only outward human part they retain to distinguish them is their hair.

Behavior[]

Raven

Raven and Chelsea as Holstein cows.

Though Raven and Chelsea were initially horrified and disgusted at the animals they were becoming, the spell also made them act increasingly more like cattle as the night went on. By the time the spell completed, they begrudgingly have accepted their new forms and give in more to their bovine instincts.

The most notable sign was their constant mooing. At first, they would low by accident whenever they said a word that rhymed with "moo", but they eventually began doing it frequently without having to say a trigger word or being mindful of their surroundings (as shown when Raven loudly moos after Loca silenced the room).

They also developed a cow's appetite and eating habits. Chelsea displayed this more by chewing on someone's straw hat, drinking out of a punch bowl with her face, and even eating the spell book page they needed to stop their transformations. Raven was not immune from similar cravings as she naturally chewed cud and did not realize it until Chelsea asked her if she was chewing gum.

When Raven and Chelsea are fully transformed, it's implied they retain their human minds as they can still talk and are aware of their surroundings. However, the extent of this is unknown given the vision's ambiguous ending.

Trivia[]

20et6q

The attendees applaud Raven and Chelsea for their "costumes."

  • Raven and Chelsea are not the only Disney Channel characters to be turned into cows, as Dave on Dave the Barbarian and Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb were also turned into cows (though the term cow is more accurate with Raven and Chelsea as cows are female cattle). They are the only live-action Disney Channel characters to turn into cows.
  • Raven and Chelsea technically become heifers, not cows. Heifers become cows after they give birth to a calf, which uses the udders for nourishment before the cow itself is milked for dairy products.
  • The actual cows used on set were required to be haltered, though there's no explanation for why Raven and Chelsea are leashed when they fully transform.
  • Despite both casting the spell at the same time, Raven and Chelsea's bodies transformed at different rates. Raven developed cow ears and hooves before Chelsea, while Chelsea got a tail and longer tongue before Raven.
  • While Raven and Chelsea both turned into Holstein cows, there are a couple of physical differences between the two that help distinguish them:
    • Both still have their human hair. Raven's is brown while Chelsea's is red.
    • Raven's snout is mostly black while Chelsea's is mostly pink.
    • Raven is significantly taller and larger than Chelsea.
    • Raven's halter is brown while Chelsea's is gray.
  • The final shot on Raven's eye in the vision may imply she still has her psychic abilities as a cow.
  • Raven and Chelsea milk an actual cow named Trixie in Country Cousins. Despite nearly becoming a cow herself, Raven appeared to have little to no knowledge when it came to milking one.
